


The National Forestry Resources Research Institute (NaFORRI) is the NARI mandated to undertake research in all aspects of forestry. Research in NaFORRI aims at increasing the benefits derived from trees and forests through conservation and sustainable management of the forest and tree resources. The headquarters of NaFORRI are located at Kifu, 12 km on Mukono – Kayunga Road.
To be the Centre of excellence spearheading forestry research for improving livelihoods, economic growth and natural resource conservation.
To generate and disseminate appropriate technologies on forests and tree resources for increased productivity, conservation of biodiversity and enhanced environment.

The program aims at developing and disseminating technologies and strategies for conservation and sustainable management of various forest ecosystems and types in Uganda through understanding forests and their components.
The program aims at developing and disseminating appropriate technologies that integrate trees on-farm to optimize crop yields, livestock production and conserve the natural resource base.
The program aims at developing and disseminating technologies that enhance efficient harvesting, processing and utilization of wood and non-wood forest and tree products.
The program aims at continually increasing the value of tree crops using genetic principles and subsequently producing adequate quantities of high quality planting materials for afforestation, reforestation, agroforestry and various tree growing needs.
